Paxton access control: start with how the building works.
An office with established card access, a school with controlled internal doors and a separate building needing phone-based entry can have very different requirements. Choosing a Paxton system means matching its management model and hardware to that operation.
Digilec supplies, installs and maintains Paxton access control systems. We work with end users, facilities teams, main contractors and electrical M&E contractors on new installations, extensions and existing-system support.
The survey starts with who needs access, which doors they should use, when they should have access and who will manage it. We also consider your current installation and what needs to remain in service during the work.
Paxton Net2: centrally managed door access.
Net2 is Paxton’s PC-based access control platform. It provides central administration of users and door permissions, with a choice of readers, controllers and software editions to suit the requirements.
Net2 Lite and Net2 Pro offer different feature sets. We confirm the required edition and any supported integration or remote-management options before specifying the system. Remote administration should not be confused with using a phone as a door credential.
For an existing Net2 installation, we can assess additional doors, reader or controller changes, software arrangements and operational issues. Retaining equipment depends on its compatibility, condition and the scope of the project.
Paxton10: access control and video management together.
Paxton10 combines access control and video management, with web-based administration and support for multi-site operation. Compatible smartphones can use the Paxton Key app as an access credential.
It can suit projects that want door access and video within one platform. We assess the readers, controllers, server, network and recording requirements as a complete solution, including which current equipment is compatible.
Paxton10 has its own hardware and software architecture. Moving from Net2 is not simply a software update, and a familiar manufacturer name does not guarantee that every existing component can be reused.
Solo, wireless locks and door entry: different roles.
Paxton Solo provides a separate phone-based, cloud-hosted approach, useful to assess where conventional access infrastructure is difficult. Our guide to Paxton Solo and its installation requirements explains the requirements and considerations in more detail.
Where wireless locking or intercoms form part of a project, we review the appropriate PaxLock or Paxton Entry equipment and the supported system combination. Compatibility is confirmed for the exact product, generation and configuration being proposed.
The right choice may be a straightforward access installation or a wider coordinated security solution. We explain the options around the brief rather than adding features the site does not need.
Supply, installation and commissioning for commercial sites.
Digilec can take a Paxton project from door survey through installation and handover. Our work covers the equipment and configuration needed for reliable day-to-day access, including the practical details at each door.
- Readers, door controllers, suitable power supplies and cabling.
- Locking hardware selected for the door and agreed operational requirements.
- User permissions, access groups and time schedules.
- Coordinated normal exit, emergency release and required fire interfaces.
- Testing, administrator handover and the agreed records of the installation.
For an extension or upgrade, we agree how existing doors will remain operational and what needs to change. Offices, retail premises, education, student accommodation, hospitality and leisure facilities each need access rules appropriate to the people using them.
We have operated since 2011 and installed well over 1,000 access-controlled doors. For design coordination with architects and consultants, see our access control design support.
Paxton engineers for existing systems, too.
A card not working may be a permission issue, reader fault, controller problem or loss of power. A door that will not lock may involve the locking hardware or door alignment as well as the access system. We investigate the complete installation to identify the cause.
Digilec can provide one-off call-outs for Paxton installations, including systems installed by another provider, subject to equipment condition and access to the required administration tools. You do not need an existing maintenance contract to ask for help.
Planned servicing can include power-supply and standby-battery checks where fitted, reader and lock operation, door-release functions and the agreed interface tests. Service agreements can include scheduled visits, reduced call-out rates and agreed technical-support and response arrangements.
Remote support is available where the installation, software and permissions allow it. Where a physical repair is needed, we arrange attendance and confirm the scope and charges.
Paxton installation and support questions.
Can you extend an existing Paxton Net2 system?
Yes. We assess the current installation, controller capacity, software and proposed doors, then advise on a compatible extension.
Can you take over maintenance of a Paxton system?
Yes. We assess the equipment and available system access before agreeing the support scope. We can also investigate a fault on a one-off call-out basis.
Is Paxton10 the same as Net2?
No. They are different platforms with different architectures. We assess the requirements and compatibility before recommending an upgrade or a new system.
