Access control for coworking spaces: OfficeRnD and Nexudus integrations.

Connect the way you manage your members with the way they enter your building. A practical guide to cloud access control for coworking and flexible offices.

Your membership platform knows who belongs. Your doors should follow.

A coworking space can have permanent tenants, part-time members, day-pass users and people visiting for a single meeting. Giving everyone the same building access leaves the operations team to manage the exceptions manually.

Connecting a supported access control system to your coworking management software can reduce duplicate administration. Access permissions can follow the member’s plan, assigned office or booking, with the relevant doors and schedules configured around your operating rules.

The important question is not simply whether two platforms integrate. It is whether that integration handles the way your particular space works.

One building. Different access rights.

A private-office tenant may need access outside reception hours. A day-pass member may use the shared workspace during business hours. A meeting-room customer may need the entrance and route to their booked room, without access to private offices. The system should reflect those differences.

OfficeRnD, Nexudus and cloud access control: which combinations work?

OfficeRnD and Nexudus offer door-access integrations, but their supported products and features differ. We check the exact coworking software, access platform and licence requirements before recommending a solution.

OfficeRnD Flex with Avigilon Alta Access

Avigilon Alta Access has a documented OfficeRnD integration for flexible workspaces. It supports access management and mobile credentials through the OfficeRnD Members’ App. We assess the supported member workflows, door permissions and credential arrangements against your requirements.

OfficeRnD Flex and OfficeRnD Workplace are different products. An integration available for a coworking operator using Flex should not be assumed to work in the same way for a business using Workplace.

Nexudus with DoorFlow or Avigilon Alta Access

Nexudus documents integrations with both DoorFlow and Avigilon Alta Access. Passes, bookable resources and assigned desks or offices can connect to access groups, allowing door permissions to follow relevant member entitlements.

That creates a useful starting point for operators who want to manage memberships and access together. The access groups still need the right doors and schedules, and the integration needs to be checked against the rules for each site.

Compatibility comes before brand choice. An available integration does not mean every feature, credential or booking rule is supported. We confirm the current supported functions and any additional subscription costs as part of the design.

A room booking needs an access route, not just an unlocked room.

When a customer books a meeting room, consider every controlled door between the street and that room. Their access may need to cover the building entrance, an internal lobby and the meeting-room door, while keeping other tenant areas secure.

Booking integrations can grant time-limited access on supported platforms. Nexudus’s documented DoorFlow and Alta integrations include access windows around resource bookings. We confirm those timing rules and test the complete journey before handover.

The same planning should cover cancelled bookings, membership end dates, changed plans and reception overrides. Automation is useful when it reflects the rules you actually want to apply.

Cards, fobs or mobile credentials?

The best credential is the one that suits your members and the equipment at your doors. Cards and fobs remain practical for many operators; mobile credentials can reduce physical credential handling where the selected system supports them.

Apple Wallet credentials are another option on compatible access control platforms, readers and devices. They should be considered separately from a standard mobile access app, with compatibility and licensing confirmed before selection.

Where cards and fobs are preferred, encrypted DESFire credentials can form part of a secure solution when the readers and system are configured to use the encrypted credential data. We assess the complete credential arrangement, rather than relying on the card technology name alone.

A member’s credential identifies them. Their access permissions determine which doors they can use and when. Both need to be managed together.

The integration is only one part of a working door.

Cloud-based management still depends on the physical installation. Readers, controllers, power supplies, locks and door operation need to work together, alongside the agreed emergency-release and fire-interface arrangements.

  • Map the spaces: entrances, shared areas, private offices, meeting rooms and staff-only doors.
  • Define the rules: membership types, access hours, booking windows and who can approve exceptions.
  • Plan credentials: member access, temporary visitors, staff and replacement credentials.
  • Check resilience: how the selected system behaves during an internet interruption or power failure.
  • Test real journeys: joining, booking, changing membership and leaving, including the complete route through the building.

We coordinate the access control hardware and software with the building’s requirements. For projects involving architects or consultants, our access control design support explains how we work with the wider project team.

Already have access control? Start with what is installed.

An integration project does not always require every door component to be replaced. We assess your current readers, controllers, locking hardware and cabling, then identify what can be retained and what needs to change for the chosen platform.

Digilec has operated since 2011 and installed well over 1,000 access-controlled doors. We design, install and maintain systems for commercial environments, with ongoing support planned around the equipment and access available to us.

For a system already in service, we can also help with access control maintenance and fault investigation. Remote technical support is available for systems that support it, with the necessary permissions and an agreed support scope.

Common questions.

Can OfficeRnD connect to an access control system?

Yes. OfficeRnD Flex supports door-access integrations, including Avigilon Alta Access. We check the specific OfficeRnD product, supported workflows and subscription requirements for your space.

Can Nexudus manage DoorFlow access?

Yes. Nexudus has a documented DoorFlow integration that connects member entitlements and bookable resources to access groups. The door groups, schedules and timing rules need to be configured to suit your operation.

Can access follow a meeting-room booking?

On a supported integration, access can follow a booking within the platform’s configured time window. We check that the customer can reach their booked room through all the required controlled doors.

Can we keep our existing cards and fobs?

Possibly. It depends on the credential technology, reader compatibility and the access platform being selected. We assess the existing installation before recommending which parts to retain.
